The defence acquisition council ( DAC) , headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on friday approved the issuance of a request for proposal (RFP) for the construction of six conventional submarines under project at an estimated cost of RS. 43,000 crore.
At a meeting, it also approved the procurement of air defence guns and ammunition for the army at an approximate cost of 6,000 crore.
This is a landmark approval, being the First case processed under the strategic partnership (SP) model.
The SP model of the defence procurement procedure (DPP) aims to promote the role of indian industry in manufacturing and build a domestic industrial ecosystem.
