A nine-year-old schoolboy died while rehearsing for a play based on freedom fighter Bhagat Singh’s life in Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place at Babat village in UP’s Budaun on Thursday.
Shivam’s uncle Vinod Kumar told The Times of India that Shivam and friends had decided to present a play for Independence Day. They came to his house and started rehearsing in the courtyard.”
For the last scene of the play, Shivam found a rope.
He took the rope, formed a noose, and put it around his neck, but his feet slipped off the stool.
He struggled to breathe, but his friends thought he was acting. It was only when his body stopped moving and that the children panicked.
They ran to inform others in the village but by the time others arrived, Shivam had died. His parents informed told that they cremated him without informing the police. Last year also, a boy died while trying to re-enact the execution of Bhagat Singh in the Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh.
