Allowing a student’s plea, the bombay high court on tuesday set aside the Maharashtra government ‘s decision to hold a common entrance test (CET) based only on the state Boards syllabus for class XI Or first – year junior college admission.
” The state government doesn’t have the power under law to issue such a notifications and this court can intervene, such as this ” a division bench of justice RD Dhanuka and RI Chagla said.
The court refused to allow conduct of the CET schedule for august 21. The bench asked the state government to start admission for class 11 by considering their class 10 Mark’s and internal assessments and complete the admission process within a period of six weeks. ” if CET is allowed to be held then a large number of student would be exposed and would face a threat to life. This would have a cascading effect, ” The bench said in its order.
