Twelve Tollywood celebrities have been prosecuted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with 4-year-old drug trafficking and consumption case registered by Telengana Excise and Prohibition Department.
Actors Rana Daggubati, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravi Teja, and director Puri Jagannadh among others have been prosecuted. Rakul has been asked to appear on September 6, Rana on September 8 and, Ravi on September 9. Puri has to appear on August 31.
Others who have been prosecuted include Charmee Kaur, Navdeep, Mumaith Khan, Nandu, Tarun, and Tanish. Ravi’s driver has also been prosecuted.
An ED official said that around 12 cases were booked by Telangana Excise and Prohibition department and 11 charge sheets were filled. Drug traffickers around eight persons were charge-sheeted in the cases. Most of them are lower-level drug traffickers. They have called excise officials as witnesses. Till they get evidence, Tollywood celebrities will be considered as witnesses. 12 cases had been registered by the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department after usurping drugs worth Rs 30 lakh.
