Call for Advocates to serve as Mediators and Law Students to serve as Case Managersfor Online Lok Adalat: Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, De Jure (WorldBank) and SAMA

The Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, in conjunction with SAMA, as technology facilitator, is organising an Online Lok Adalat, tentatively to be held from 09th September – 05th October.

It’s worth noting that DE JURE (Data and Evidence for justice reform, part of the World Bank Group) is closely working with Sama as a Knowledge Partner to evaluate the effectiveness of Online Lok Adalats in India and conduct an impact assessment of this project on all stakeholders. It will be a great opportunity to be a part of the same.

Who can apply?

Practicing advocates, Accredited Mediators, All Law students who can devote time and dedication to the cause of access-to-justice.

Applicants who are fluent in Marathi will be preferred and must possess a laptop with stable internet connection.

The 3-week long commitment will commence on September 13th, 2021.

Work Description:
Mediators and case manager positions will be allotted to applicants on a first-come-first- serve-basis. The role would require them to work on matters involving loans, family dispute, Bank Matters, Motor Accident Claims, Cheque Bounce cases etc.
Case Managers will be required to coordinate between Mediators and Litigants.

Please note that only those Mediators will be empanelled for this project who have:-
1) Worked previously with Sama and taken up Mediation/Conciliation cases, or

2) Have been practicing in Court, or
3) Are an accredited mediator.

  • Top Three Mediators from this Maharashtra Online Lok Adalat will receive a cash prize. (Rs. 15,000, Rs. 9,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively)
  • Case Managers will be provided with certificates at the end of the project
  • Well performing case managers will be given a chance to be a part of the core team in the next Online Lok Adalat
    Online Mediation Sessions for the Online Lok Adalat will likely be held between 14th September and 25th September, 2021.
