Brazil president Jair Bolsonaro has changed the rules of social media regulation and has decreed an order with a new set of rules. The critics have opined that the decree in change might bring a hinder against the protests that are prevalent in Brazil.
President himself has removed his content from the social media platforms on the topic of disinformation of COVID- 19
Due to anti -Bolsonaro protests the situation is getting more and more crucial due to social media sharing is the main reason for changing the rules.
Youtube recently suspended 14 channels that are publishing against and unwanted news of the protests. The decree was released on the eve of Brazil’s independence day September 7 th which is commonly known as Sete de Setembro. This day is celebrated as the significance of the Independence from the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and the Algarve. It is celebrated since 1822.
The opposing leader might challenge the decree and file a case .
