Terror gripped the Kumikhari and Badli Pahad reserve forest area around the Andhra-Odisha border as the Odisha Security forces clashed with the banned Communist Party (Maoist) (CPI-M). The area lies within the limits of the Boipariguda Police Station on the Koraput-Malkangiri border in Odisha.
The clash occurred on late Thursday morning where both the parties were involved in a cross-fire. There were no casualties on either side.
“Forces were able to seize at least one 303 Lee Enfield Rifle, some ammo, Maoist readings, uniforms, medkits, 11 kit bags, 4 detonators, 2 hand-held VHF sets, 1 portable welding machine and a few knives from the site.” According to an official statement.
The security forces consisted of Special Operations Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF), and Border Security Force (BSF). The operation was undertaken based on strong and reliable specific intel inputs on the movement of the militants.
Earlier on Tuesday, two Maoists were caught near the surrounding area, one of them was arrested and the other surrendered in Koraput.
