In a move taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has decided to observe 17th September (PM’s birthday) as ‘National Unemployment Day’. IYC National President Srinivas BV took to twitter to announce the same with a poster akin to those of the movies, and showed young people apparently in a devastated disposition. It is titled “National Unemployment Day” and has wordings like Rozgar Do and Indian Youth Congress raise voice against unemployment, with ’17 September, 2021’ in block letters.
While sharing the poster, Srinivas also described PM Modi as “the man who pushed India towards record-breaking unemployment and made the whole of India unemployed”. Reported, the IYC has also stated that India’s unemployment rate has witnessed a rise to as high a percentage as 10.3% from just 2.4% within a span of a single year and accused the BJP government of being busy in its branding rather than focusing and solving such large issues. There have understandably been mixed comments on the post by the people; some have conveyed their support while the supporters of the ruling party criticized the ‘petty’ move. One of the comments read “Of course you should. After all who other than Congress has been the biggest impacted party of unemployment for the last 7 years.”
