The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted searches at 28 places including the house and property of former minister Commercial Taxes and Registration K.C. Veeramani, in Chennai, Ranipet, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri and his native Tirupattur.
The searches were also conducted in the homes of former ministers brothers houses and 14 other places are under the radar said sources .
Mr. Veeramani lived in the village with his brothers. Together, they have been handling their father’s beedi business, K.K. Chinnarasu & Co., for several years. Mr. Veeramani also runs a tipper lorry transport business, Akalya Transports, in the town. The details were recorded in an FIR filed against him by the DVAC.
Mr. Veeramani intentionally enriched himself illicitly and acquired assets worth ₹28.7 crore, which works out to be 654% of his total income.
The AIADMK party has slammed the government telling all this is a political drama and the search before the state local body election were a drama to pull the focus from the promises that are not fulfilled by the ruling party.
