Axis bank commits Rs 30,000 crore till FY26 towards sustainable lending

Axis bank is an Indian banking and financial services company which sells financial services to large and mid-size companies. Axis Bank will be lending Rs 30,000 crore till 2025-26 under its sustainable financing framework.

The country’s third largest private sector’s commitments are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supporting India’s commitments under the Paris Agreement.

The investors use Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) as a tool to assess how good the practices of company are. People have become sensitive about the whole idea of sustainable planet, Dahiya said.

Dahiya said that after five years the bank will be assessing these lendings to see positive outcomes and increase it further. The lender will also scale down its exposure to carbon- intensive sectors in its wholesale banking business portfolio.

0.5 percent interest will be incentivize to the borrowers by lender for adopting good practices.
