On Sunday, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar reiterated his demand for a caste census, saying it is in national interest and will facilitate development of the communities lagging in development.
The centre on a affidavit to supreme court has ruled out caste based census saying it’s not possible for the government to do such kind of census. The JD(U) leader also rejected arguments against caste census and says that a demand for caste census has come from other states also.
The central government on Thursday told the supreme Court that caste census of backward caste is administratively difficult and excluding such information is a conscious policy making decision.
