The announcement made by the election commission comes as a surprise, but all the patties had an slight idea that the election will be held in 6 months period. But this was a but earlier than expected.
All parties are gearing up for the political action in the state. Three assembly segments and one Lok Sabha seat in the state are going for by election. All the four by-elections in Madhya Pradesh are necessitated by the death of the MLAs and the MP, all of whom were lost to Covid in 2021.
The announcement came as somewhat of a surprise even to the ruling BJP. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had been touring poll-bound areas, making announcements to secure the support. On Wednesday, too, programmes were planned but were cancelled as the model code of conduct came into force.
Three assembly segments where polls have been announced in MP include Jobat (SC) in Alirajpur district, Prithvipur in Niwari district and Raigaon (SC) in Satna district. The Lok Sabha seat where polls are due is Khandwa. While Jobat and Prithvipur were Congress held seats and Raigaon and Khandwa were BJP held seats
Polling would be held on October 30, while counting for the seats would be held on November 2. The candidates are asked to keep the covid 19 protocols in mind and the election Commission has said that not more than 3 vehicles are allowed .
