While the reports of Congress looking for Sidhu’s replacement as the State Party Chief had already started doing rounds, the politician’s advisor has stated that Navjot Singh Sidhu will continue to serve as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and the whole issue will be rectified shortly.  Mohammad Mustafa, Sidhu’s advisor, in a statement to NDTV has been quoted as saying that Sidhu “acts emotionally at times” and this is understood by the Congress leadership.

Mustafa compared Sidhu to now former Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and alleged that the former is not like the latter, who never cared for the party or its leadership. Although Navjot Singh Sidhu promised to keep serving the party after resigning as the state party chief, he took to twitter to post a video message of himself criticizing the appointment of “tainted” officials and ministers. Notably, he has agreed to have a meeting over the issue with the newly appointed Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjeet Singh Channi, who is a known Sidhu loyalist. The meeting is supposed to be held at 3:00 pm today (30th September 2021) in capital Chandigarh. This comes after Channi had stated that he talked to Sidhu and urged him to sit and talk about his concerns so the matter can we resolved amicably. Sidhu had resigned saying that he can never compromise with the future of Punjab and the agenda for the state’s welfare. All eyes are now on what the outcome of the talks will be and whether Sidhu will stay Punjab Congress Chief or not.
