Mr Charanjit Singh Channi, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Punjab came to Delhi for the first time meeting with Prime Minister Modi in order to discuss on the issue of withdrawal of three controversial farm laws against which farmers mostly from Punjab and Haryana is protesting since last year.
Mr Channi, the replacement for Captain Amarinder Singh made a request to the Prime Minister to withdraw the centre’s decision to postpone paddy procurement in the largely agricultural state from Friday itself. “Agriculture is our main source of income. I have asked the Prime Minister to help find a solution to the deadlock with farmers, who are protesting against the three controversial farm laws”, told Mr Channi to the media.
Mr Channi on Thursday requested the Central Government to withdraw its letter on changing the date to start from paddy procurement from October 1 to 11.
Mr Channi is also likely to meet the senior Congress leaders during his tour to Delhi, where he would also discuss on the issue of Punjab crisis between the Captain and Sidhu.
