Supreme Court Dismisses Plea To Cancel NEET-UG 2021

Apex court on Monday dismissed the petition asking for cancellation of NEET-UG exam conducted on 12th September ,2021 . Petitioner requested to reconduct exam due to many instances of leakages and impersonation in duration of exam period . But the supreme court dismissed it outrightly , scolding petitioner for being adventurous in filing the petition . Court observed that this is a national level exam deciding fortune of lakhs of students , a few number of irregularities can’t supersede the efforts of those laborious students who got selected . Court warned that costs will be imposed on petitioner .

Bench comprising of L Nageshwar Rao and BR Gavai heard the case , petitioner alleged that lots of malpractices are performed through electronic media and gadgets and hence this exam is “irreversibly vitiated” .

Court from the beginning was disinterested to hear this case , scolded petitioner that what idea you have made about the results , lakhs of students gave this exam , you haven’t think twice when client approached you that this case will invite heavy cost upon you .

Counsel submitted that 5 FIR are lodged , many instances of paper leakages and impersonation are recorded , even if one meritorious student is affected it will be great injustice to him .

Court observed that exam was of national level and not local level , 7.5 lakh students enrolled in this exam , court initially decided to impose 5 lakh cost but later omitted at request of counsel .

Petitioner further asserted that may proxy candidates sat in the exam brazenly and played with life of many sincere students , several FIR’s have also been registered of unfair activities , this has turned to a lucrative commercial interest for many coaching institutions and eve medical colleges .

The court refused to entertain saying implementation of petition will create bigger loss to save the lesser harm .
