In the most recent developments regarding the whole issue of Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation from the position of Punjab Congress Chief, the in-charge of Punjab Congress Harish Rawat has confirmed that Sidhu will continue to hold office. Rawat made the assurance to Rahul Gandhi and said that Sidhu has withdrawn his resignation and will be continuing resuming his duties as the Chief of PPCC.
Rawat has been quoted as saying that “Sidhu had shared his concerns to Rahul Gandhi. He has been told that his concerns will be taken care of here.”
Responding to the questions and queries, Navjot Singh Sidhu has stated that “everything has been sorted out”.
The debacle had started with the ouster of Captain Amarinder Singh from the office of Punjab CM. Charanjit Singh Channi has been selected to replace him. Sidhu, who was himself rumoured to be the next Chief Minister as well, was allegedly unhappy with some of the postings in the new cabinet. He resigned citing in his resignation letter that he cannot ‘compromise with Punjab’s welfare’.
Sidhu has made a reputation as a fickle person, and people had their concerns with him taking charge of his office because of his now well-known unpredictable nature and unstable demeanor.
