Anil Deshmukh, popular political leader, and former Home Minister of Maharashtra was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) yesterday’s night (1st November) after almost a dozen hours of questioning. He has been arrested in his alleged involvement in a money-laundering case connected to a possible extortion racket in the state police institution.

Today i.e., 2nd November a Mumbai Court has remanded Deshmukh’s custody to the ED till the date of 6th November.

The ED probe against the minister and his associates was initiated after the CBI had filed an FIR against him in April this year and levelled charges of corruption and misuse of official position.
