Five years earlier on 8th November 2016, Narendra Modi had announced a nation-wide ban on currency notes of a higher denomination 500 rupees and 1000 rupees. On the fifth anniversary of demonetisation, senior Congress leader has put forth questions regarding the positive impact of the actions of the ruling party and whether there were any even.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, while terming the demonetisation a failure and disaster has remarked that if the step has been so successful (as BJP is claiming it to be) then why hasn’t the corruption ended or the black money returned to the country.

These comments have been made by the leader because the above two goals were supposed to be the main agenda of the act of demonetising the currency of high denomination.

While Modi government never tires of praising the PM for his decision, the opposition parties mainly the Congress constantly allege that the move has only had adverse effects on the common citizens of the country and has not led to any improvement in the system.
