As Congress is looking to implement ‘One leader-One Post’ policy, so as to not put the burden of more than one responsibility on a single minister, a reshuffle in the state cabinet of Rajasthan is highly expected.
There is a high possibility of removal of three senior leaders from their posts in the cabinet owing to the other responsibilities they have been allotted in the party.
According to sources, Rajasthan PCC chief Govind Dotasra, AICC in charge of Punjab Harish Chaudhry, AICC in charge of Gujarat Raghu Sharma are the three ministers likely to lose their current positions in accordance with the ‘One Minister-One Post’ formula the Congress Party is looking to apply.
A meeting was held between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the latter’s residence. Party secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and KC Venugopal were also a part of the meeting.
The chief of AICC for the state of Rajasthan Ajay Maken, also present in the meeting has stated that discussions were made on the upcoming 2023 assembly polls.
As for now, nine seats are vacant in the state assembly cabinet of 2023, and after the removal of three current ministers mentioned above, a dozen new ministers will have to be inducted.
As the party does not hold complete majority in the assembly, it will necessarily be in talks with individual MLAs.
